Name: Shoreline Protection Community Engagement Meeting
Date: November 3, 2021
Time: 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM EDT
Event Description:

Join Village Manger Steve Williamson and staff at the Community Center to learn more about this tentative Coastal Storm Risk Management (CSRM) and how it can benefit our island paradise.

Key Biscayne residents enjoy a peaceful, safe and active quality of life offered along our oceanside beach. However, Key Biscayne faces a growing threat in the future. Sea level rise, more frequent and more intense storms. On September 14, 2021, the Village of Key Biscayne was officially included in US Army Corps of Engineers’ Tentatively Selected Plan (TSP) with Miami-Dade County as our local sponsor. If the plan is determined to be feasible for the island, the Village could benefit from $120M in federal funding to protect our shoreline, including 50 years of periodic beach re-nourishment.
